Palak Paneer is a classic North Indian dish featuring paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a creamy, spiced spinach (palak) gravy. The preparation starts by blanching and pureeing fresh spinach leaves to create a smooth green sauce. In a pan, onions, garlic, and ginger are sautéed until golden, followed by tomatoes and a blend of spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. The spinach puree is added to this mixture and simmered until the flavors meld together. Cubes of paneer are then gently added to the gravy and cooked until they are heated through and absorb some of the sauce’s flavors. The dish is often finished with a splash of cream or yogurt for added richness. Palak Paneer is typically served with naan, roti, or rice, offering a hearty and nutritious meal with its combination of protein-rich paneer and nutrient-dense spinach.
